Altar of Sacrifice and Altar of Reservation
In the middle of the sanctuary is the altar of sacrifice. The base of this marble altar was
originally the base of the marble pulpit, which was installed in 1930. This change was made during the
restoration and renovations done in 2003. It is made of pure white Carrara marble and with panels of
delicate pink Sienna marble.
Behind it is the high "Altar of Reservation" which was completed in 1902. It was donated by
William Mackey and designed by J.A. Karch of Montreal. It is elaborately carved of
Belgian marble and decorated with onyx stone from Mexico. Note the statue of Saint Patrick
in the centre niche and the Celtic Cross at the top of the pinnacle.
